Compare reading apps with Aura
Do you want to clean up the page you are reading, save an article for tonight, or keep a whole library of books and highlights? These comparisons start with that choice. There is no single reader that suits everyone.

Aura Reader vs Just Read
Just Read suits people who want control over how a web page is cleaned up. Aura adds a web library where saved articles sit beside PDF and EPUB books.
Aura Reader vs Reader Mode
Reader Mode is also a saving and annotation tool, not just an extension that removes clutter. Compare its research integrations with Aura’s reading-first library.
Aura Reader vs Clearly Reader
Clearly Reader combines browser reading with speech, translation and export tools. Aura focuses on returning to your saved articles and books in a calm web library.
Aura Reader vs Circle Reader
Circle Reader is a browser extension with particular attention to page layout and continuous reading. Aura puts a saved library of articles and books at the centre.
Aura Reader vs Instapaper
Instapaper is a read-it-later service with native mobile apps and offline reading. Aura is a web-first alternative for saved articles, PDFs and DRM-free EPUB books.
Aura Reader vs Readwise Reader
Readwise Reader is a good fit when reading feeds a larger knowledge system. Aura is an option when you mainly want a calm place to finish saved articles and books.
Try it with one passage first
Before moving your library, test one article and one file you actually read. Save a passage, add a note and reopen it. Compare the result with your current reader, including upload limits and the exports you need. This is a suggested test, not a claim that we tested your files in every competing app.
Use a DRM-free EPUB or a PDF with selectable text. File uploads require an account: up to 3 MB per file on Free and 50 MB on Pro. Aura does not run OCR on scanned pages or remove DRM. Keep your original file if its layout matters.
Select a short passage, choose a highlight colour or add a note, then check the saved entry in Highlights & notes. Open the same library copy next time. An annotation saved in Aura is not an edit embedded in your original PDF or EPUB.
