Reading options: make the page work for you

You do not need a special way to read everything. Some pages need bigger type. Others are easier to follow with a chapter list or fewer pictures. Aura's reader keeps these choices close, so you can change one thing and carry on.

Read an article

Start with the appearance of the text

The toolbar offers font selection, text size and light, dark or warm themes. Try a paragraph before changing several settings at once. Reading options also lets you hide images or link elements. Leave them visible when the article depends on photographs, diagrams or references. OpenDyslexic is a font choice, not a medical treatment or guaranteed reading improvement.

Choose how the next page arrives

Zen hides the surrounding interface. Ebook uses a paged presentation. RSVP presents words one after another. These views are alternatives, not a checklist to complete. For a long essay, start with the normal reader or Zen. Try Ebook if you prefer turning pages and RSVP if you want to test sequential text.

Keep your place in a longer text

Pro adds a ruler that follows the mouse pointer, an outline built from the document's headings, and adjustable auto-scroll. The ruler is a visual guide, the outline is navigation, and auto-scroll moves the page. None of them decides what you should read or summarizes the source for you.

Keep the useful parts, without marking everything

Signed-in readers can save highlights with notes. Reading statistics are available separately if you want to look back at your activity. You can leave both alone and simply enjoy a book. Your library still gives articles, PDFs and EPUBs their own places.

Where to find it

  1. Open a text in Aura. Font and theme controls are on the reader toolbar.
  2. Choose Reading options for additional views and navigation tools. On a phone, open the reader menu first.
  3. Turn on the option you want to try. Return to the same menu to turn it off.

Before you start

Which reading options need Pro?

The ruler, heading outline and auto-scroll require Pro. Zen, Ebook view, RSVP and basic font/theme settings do not. Upload and cloud limits are separate.

Do the settings change the source document?

These controls change Aura's reading presentation. Hiding pictures or changing the font does not edit the original website or uploaded file.

Where are the options on my phone?

Open the reader's menu and expand Reading options. Some tools, especially the mouse-following ruler, are better suited to a computer.
