RSVP reader: try one word at a time

Start with a paragraph you already understand

Open an article, choose RSVP in Reading options and begin at a comfortable pace. A familiar passage lets you judge the display without also working out unfamiliar ideas. Pause whenever you lose the thread. Close RSVP to return to the article and read the sentence in context.

Use the speed control as a preference

The speed setting controls how quickly words appear. It does not measure how well you understood them. Increase it only while the passage remains easy to follow. A list of unfamiliar names or a dense argument may call for a lower setting than a simple narrative.

Keep the full page for work that needs context

Tables, diagrams, equations and careful quotations are easier to check in their original arrangement. RSVP cannot show the whole argument at once. When you need to look back, return to the normal reader. Research on speed reading describes a trade-off between pace and comprehension, not a shortcut that removes it.

Try another view if this one does not suit you

RSVP is optional. You can use Aura for years without turning it on. Zen keeps the full text while hiding controls; auto-scroll moves the page rather than presenting individual words. Choose by the reading experience you prefer, not by a promised productivity score.

1. Open a short article and choose RSVP in Reading options.
2. Set a comfortable word pace, start playback and use pause whenever you need.
3. Return to the article to reread a sentence or check the surrounding text.
